The National Mental Health Development Unit From 1 April 2009 the national functions of NIMHE will be replaced by the National Mental Health Development Unit (NMHDU). This new body will provide national support to implementing mental health policy through its specialist expertise in priority areas, sharing best practice and co-ordinating national activity to support regional and local implementation. The ten Strategic Health Authorities will oversee regional and local delivery of mental health services and the work previously undertaken by the NIMHE Regional Development Centres.
