First steps in engaging trusts ...

The following is a summary of the first steps involved in engaging trusts in the policy:

• Insertion of abuse question into assessment documentation (significant progress being made)
• NHS Confederation briefing circulated to all trusts (done)
• Formal invitations to participate to all CEOs/ Chairs (all SHA regions bar Eastern region)
• Trust 'sign up' and lead officer identified to liaise with National Team (so far all trusts in the South West, East Midlands, Yorkshire/Humberside and North East SHA regions; other individual trusts on board)
• Individual trust meetings to start the planning process, identify core trainers and finalise timescales (current focus as above regions)
• Delivery of two day ‘training the trainers’ course for trusts’ core trainers (South West taking place in March; Yorks/Humber and East Midlands in April/ May; North East likely to be May/June)

The National Team will next focus on trusts in West Midlands, London and the North West and then move on to the South East (two SHAs) and Eastern region.
