The growth of the independent sector (private and voluntary) has been considerable in recent years and is set to increase further.
In excess of £1bn per annum is being spent on mental health care in independent hospitals, care homes with nursing and care homes. Links between service providers, Care Programme Approach (CPA) care coordinators and service commissioners are crucial to ensuring that placements remain appropriate, uality is maintained and value for money obtained.
This Guide offers suggestions on how to effectively manage these relationships to the benefi t of service users and their families and friends.
